I’m an Iraqi-Welsh writer; my debut novel, The Watermelon Boys was published in 2018 and received a Betty Trask Award. I live in the North West of England, and spend time in Morocco too.
I was the London Book Fair 2020 writer in residence in Sharjah, and I'm featured in the essay collection Just So You Know (2020, Parthian Books). My second novel will be announced soon, but in the meantime, check out my short story with BBC Radio 4. For Arabic speakers, my name is pronounced رقية عزالدين and the closest approximation in English is Ruh-kay-ya Izz-uh-deen. Get in touch with me below, or contact my agent for creative commissions. I see the world through punglasses. |
